Store-bought protein bars and snack bars often contain ingredients I avoid eating. I follow mostly the low-FODMAP diet, so there are some restrictions in my diet. I basically, just eat a gluten-free, lactose-free diet and no onion, garlic or apples. There aren’t many fodmap-friendly snack bars available in the grocery stores, so I decided to create my own recipe. That’s how I came up with these Gut-friendly Chocolate Energy Bites.
This recipe is super simple. You just mix all the ingredients together, roll into balls and that’s it. This recipe is vegan, gluten-free, paleo and refined-sugar-free. However, these bites taste amazing! So chocolatey and yummy! You wouldn’t believe these are healthy!
I couldn’t find flaxseed meal in the grocery store, so I made my own. It was so easy! I just put some flaxseeds into a blender and mixed until it looked like flour. Flaxseeds are a great addition into a diet. They can, actually, help with constipation, so these energy bites are really good for the gut.
Peanut butter is my go-to nut butter, but you could use any nut butter you like in this recipe. If you aren’t following the low-FODMAP diet, you could use honey instead of maple syrup.
These Gut-friendly Chocolate Energy Bites are a perfect snack that you can take with you. Homemade snacks taste always better than store-bought ones! Hope you try out this recipe!;)
